BOOST FOR RAIDERS AS THOMAS IS PASSED FIT

OWEN THOMAS has been passed fit and will make his competitive debut for the Raiders at London Irish Wild Geese on Saturday.
Coach Jordan Reynolds plans to name an attacking XV which also sees a National Three London & SE debut for new scrum half Adam Nixon and the two Armstrong brothers, Anthony and Matt.
The coach said he is delighted to have Nixon and Thomas on board for the start of a campaign in which he refuses to set any specific targets at this stage other than to play attacking rugby and enjoy it.
Nixon arrives from National One side Darlington and Mowden Park RFC and Guernsey are glad to have him as he embarks on a new career on island.
'He was looking to develop his game a little bit more and we managed to convince him to come here and the opportunity to work with Malcolm Banes he saw as a bonus. It was career minded move as well as he has got a job lined up.'
As for Welshman Thomas, fears that he had suffered a serious knee injury playing against Jersey Athletic have proved unfounded.
'He passed a fitness test on Tuesday,' said the coach.
'it was touch and go but we had a specialist look at him and he diagnosed a meniscus strain.
'Owen came through a full in session on Tuesday with flying colours. He should be alright and it's great for both us and him as he was very disappointed to be injured so early on.'
There will be more team news and thoughts from the coach ahead of the first game tomorrow.
