TOM MALAGODI, the young prop, gets a first full start for Raiders as they head to struggling Wimbledon on a revenge mission tomorrow and a word of warning from their coach.

Wimbledon won at Footes Lane when Raiders got sloppy and the coach is keen that something similar does not happen again. ‘They might have lost a few on the trot but it should be a tough fixture. They showed over here that they have got quality and we made some mistakes. We want to improve on where we were against Eton and we need to.’

The big team news is that with both Layton Batiste and Luke Gardner suffering from knocks, Magalodi gets his chance and former captain and now scrum coach Simon Sharrott returns to playing duties to take a place on the bench.

The other change to the starting XV from last week sees Dave Davison come in for the unavailable Luke Sayer, with Sam Whitehead switching to fullback. The coach described Malagodi as a ‘bit of a project’ but there is potential. ‘He is only just getting back into rugby, but he has got a bit of size and he is very mobile.’

Wimbledon sit directly below seventh-placed Raiders in the table, but the gap between the two teams has grown to 12 points with the London club having lost their last four games which have all been against top-five teams.

Glen Walters has recovered from the knock to the foot which saw him retire early against Eton and with the weather on the change Raiders can look forward to better conditions to throw the ball around, ‘It should be good conditions and we haven’t seen any of that for a long time.’
