OUR table-topping ladies team are at Barnes on Sunday, but before then and at Footes Lane on Saturday.

Neither game will be easy for the Guernsey Raiders, but as far as the men are concerned there is good news on the selection front. Owen Thomas is back. He starts against Guildford, just over a month after he took a hefty knock against Tonbridge Juddians.

The return of Thomas allows Sam Whitehead to switch to the wing and he will form part of an all-Kiwi back three along with Malcolm Barnes and Kenny Hellier. Ned Brown is also back to resume his highly promising midfield partnership with Luke Jones and there is also a return for flanker for Romain Mercadal, who missed the Wimbledon match through injury.

Blair Campbell is also available again and starts on the bench alongside another ever-reliable, Cameron Craine. Saturday's match kicks off at 2pm at Footes Lane.

As for the Ladies, they have gone top after being handed the points by New Ash Green.
But Sunday’s game at Barnes could be a tricky one with the side missing a few regulars.
‘We have had to reshuffle the forwards a little bit, keeping Eleanor Woodward at No.8 after a strong display against Lewes and playing Ellie Whittles at No.6 in the absence of Tanya Scholtz,’ said coach Chris Griffiths.

There is also a starting place for Andrea Harris at loose head and Michelle Schofield in the 2nd row, ‘The change to the backline is undoubtedly more noticeable, however I am very intrigued to see how the new line up works together as we have some exciting attacking potential there if they can get things to click on the day,’ said the coach who also has to do without Fiona Ashworth and Jillian Smith.

‘I think Barnes will really be up for this game and due to a lot of reshuffling of players we cannot afford to be complacent despite an emphatic home win against them in September. We will go in to this game confident and we have a game plan that we hope will once again prove successful. We want to win the game but we also want to get that crucial bonus point, so we have to go out in an attack minded manner to ensure we score the five tries we require.’
