Congratulations go to Rachel Merrien, who took time off from her university studies to successfully gain the standard along with seven other Guernsey male coaches.
The course is staged over three weekends with three full days of involvement.
‘It culminates in several tasks which including looking at the technical aspects of the game,’ said RDO Steve Melbourne, who assisted the visiting RFU trainer.
‘All the coaches were expected to deliver a 10 minute coaching session and show proficient knowledge of the task in hand,’ he said.
Melbourne is delighted with her rise in the coaching ranks.
‘She has been supporting Chris Griffiths with the ladies and doing some specific sessions. She’s also helped out working with St Jacques.’
Others to pass their level two badges include RBSi Academy coaches Andy Cloke, Bob Gallagher, Chris Monk, Barry Goude and Steve de Jersey, plus Ladies coach Chris Griffiths and the club’s 2nd XV coach, Mark Stone.
