A super Saturday!

Few things are guaranteed in sport, but after today the 1st XV should be OK for another season at National 3 level and the 2nd XV should have done enough to have won the CI league title.

At Tonbridge Juddian, the 1sts XV came back from a worrying 7-19 deficit to win 45-26.

One more point may be required for the, but coach Jordan Reynolds is demanding at least four with a win over Westcombe Park on the last day of the season.

From 7-19 down after half an hour against 'TJs' Reynolds' men stormed back to level 19-19 at the break ahead of a dominant second-half display took them well clear.

But with Tring, Westcliff and Amersham all winning, there is a little more work to do, as Reynolds highlighted.

'One bonus points would do it, but we want to win to make sure. we want to perform next week,' said the coach.

Saturday's bonus-point success keeps them four points clear of the relegation trap, but with four points for a win and a fifth available for scoring four tries, it is just possible they could be caught.

In their favour is that Westcliff have to play title chasing Barnes.

The situation had looked bleak when two quick tries took 'TJs' from 7-7 - Nick Merrien had scored an early converted try - into a 19-7 advantage.

But scores by wingers Dave Davison and Jason Batiste, one of them converted, brought the visitors level and early in the second Malcolm Barnes twice dashed over for converted scores.

When Ned Brown added another Glen Walters converted score, Guernsey were flying 40-19 clear.

'TJs' narrowed the gap by seven points briefly, but replacement Andy Bailey completed the scoring to top off a great day for GRFC.

Back at Footes Lane, where the old pitch looked in cracking condition in the midday spring sunshine, the 2nds romped to a 77-10 win over Les Quennevais in the first leg of the CI League title showdown.

Sam Stables marked his return to the club after a spell travelling by scoring four tries.

The impressive newcomer Anthony Armstrong had a hat-trick, while man of the match Luke Sayer had two and there were also tries from Dale Martin, Chris Ahne, Jim Regnard and Callum Gladstone.

Alec Bailey notched six conversions.
