Raiders 54 Towcestrians 10

Bournemouth RFC fly in on Saturday for the latest instalment of Guernsey Raiders’ ‘biggest ever match’ series.
This time, though, it really is.
At stake after confirming the runner-up spot in London and South East Premier is a place at National Two South level.
Of course, the Bournemouth clash will be an unexpected showpiece to what already promised to be a great day - Junior Siam. Later in the week we will fill you in re timings but, for now, all we can say is that the playoff will take place on the Garenne Stand pitch at 2pm.

Raiders are there after beating Towcestrians 54-10 with a performance that will forever be remembered by 17-year-old Matt Creber who was called up late to play at No. 8 and helped himself to two tries.
Head coach Jordan Reynolds was naturally pleased for the youngster who has been a fixture in the Colts and Vikings sides this winter, but felt his side were still suffering from the hangover of the defeat away to Tring, which saw Raiders usurped at the top of the table having led the way for so long.
That said, we still ran in eight tries with Anthony Armstrong claiming a hat-trick.
Speaking about Creber, Reynolds said that they had all week ‘wanted to try and blood someone’.
Creber got the nod and he nearly got a hat-trick on a day he tackled nearly everything and he got a couple of turnovers.
‘He is definitely one for the future,’ said the coach.
It would be good to think that in years to come that Creber and some of the excellent Colts crop can emulate Nick Merrien who on Saturday became the latest raider to join the ‘200 Club’.

As for the game Anthony Armstrong lit up the opening minute with another fantastic individual try that saw him burst through a gap on halfway and then left Towcestrians for dead to open the scoring within the first 40 seconds.
Owen Thomas added the conversion, as he did for all bar the last of the Raiders' eight tries.
Towcestrians quickly got on the board via scrum-half Gus Hopewell who caught the hosts napping with a quick tap penalty on the 22 before scampering through to touch down.
Surely not...?
The answer soon became an emphatic no.
Dale Martin went in for the first of his two tries and then Creber forced his way over for his first in the 20th minute and the nervousness disappeared.
Towcestrians hit back briefly with their second try, but before half-time the returning Sam Whitehead collected Thomas's clever grubber kick behind the defence to score what proved to be the bonus-point try that in effect clinched Raiders the runners-up spot .
In the second half Martin finished off a move from close range and then Armstrong added his second after a great run from Sam Steventon.
Creber then scrambled to the line to touch down for his second try and Armstrong completed the scoring in the left-hand corner after some slick handling by the backs.
Happy days and they will be even happier with another win on Saturday. Fingers crossed.
The Siam can wait.
