The way Guernsey stuck to their systems rather than the size of the victory was what pleased head coach Jordan Reynolds the most about the 83-5 win at Barking last Saturday.
National three London & South-East's basement side had lost all 22 of their previous matches before Guernsey's visit at the weekend, meaning that the green-and-whites were in a rare no-win situation as they went into the encounter as overwhelming favourites.
However, Reynolds was happy with the way his side approached the game to get their just deserts on the day.
'you can get yourself into bad form by trying to score tries for the sake of it and not sticking to your systems, but we really wanted to make usre that we were building from this game for Tring next week', said the GRFC coach.
Guernsey ran in 13 tries in total with Nick Barton equalling his own club record of scoring six in one match. 'He seemed to be in the right spot at the right time for those tries' said Reynolds, who added that one of Barton's opportunistic tries was like 'something out of Monty Python' as the No 8 capitalised on a Barking turnover.
'He got the club record of six against Sutton & Epsom a couple of years ago in London One and now he has it in the National League'
Reynolds was also pleased that Nick Merrien was able to get some good game-time under his belt and that wing David Davison would have had a confidence boost from scoring two tries.
Ben McDougall also touched down twice while there were scores for Jason Batiste, Lewis Hillier and Sam Whitehead, who added nine conversions.
'The best thing was that we were able to rest the guys we wanted to and also give good game-time to those who needed it.' Reynolds said. 'We still managed to get a good victory while doing it.'
