Yesterday's game was a disappointing start to the 2014/15 season. Westcombe Park started off the scoring with a try after capitalising on a dropped high ball by Guernsey and also kicking a successful penalty attempt.
Shortly after, Guernsey No. 8 Nick Barton popped the ball from the base of the scrum to Malcolm Barnes who managed to evade the Westcombe defenders to run 30m and score under the posts. The try was successfully converted by Sam Whitehead.
Westcombe Park went into the break ahead 8 - 7.
Unfortunately a yellow card to Guernsey player, Jim Regnard in the beginning of the 2nd half for not rolling away was the beginning of the flood gates opening. Westcombe Park managed to run in further tries for the game to finish 37 - 7.
Although the performance was not what we hoped for, it was pleasing to see so many supporters make the trip to watch the game. A special thank you to John Whitehead for being the touch judge.
