BEWARE was the watch word beforehand and head coach Jordan Reynolds was right.
Wimbledon proved they are a dangerous side by winning 28-24 at Footes Lane on Saturday afternoon to register their first win of the season in National Three London & South East.
It was a very disappointed head coach who spoke afterwards, lambasting his side’s second half showing.
There was a blow even before kick off with the highly influential Robin Le Cocq ruled out with a calf strain picked up at training on Thursday night.
Leon Gardner came into the starting XV and there were further hinderances with the not insignificant matter of picking up three yellow cards: one for Dom Rice, one for Ned Brown and one for Luke Sayer.
So Raiders spent almost half the game a man down. Not good.
That said, Raiders led at the break and were still 19-11 ahead with half an hour remaining.
But the concession of two quick tries, one of them coming when Luke Sayer was in the sin-bin, hurt the home side and although Glen Walters went over late on to give Raiders a four-try bonus point and earn another bonus for finishing within seven of the winners, it was scant consolation.
In the first half Dom Rice was credited for the first try, converted by Owen Thomas, and the second score was a penalty try also converted by Thomas.
