ON THE face of it the fixture scheduling has dealt the club 1st XV a hard hand with Tonbridge Juddians, East Grinstead and, next stop, Dorking, over the first three games in the National 3 London and South East division.
But coach Jordan Reynolds is not having any of it.
‘If you can find an easy team in this league show me,’ he said ahead of the squad’s final training session before travelling to Dorking, who just missed out on promotion last season.
Despite two straight defeats there is nothing wrong with the spirit in the said, he insisted.
‘We’ve been confident the last couple of games. There’s still plenty of confidence within the side and we’re not too far off.’
Selection wise, the most significant change is that skipper Blair Campbell moves back to No.10 and Sam Whitehead is switched to full-back.
‘We didn’t seem to making our patterns at the moment,’ explained the coach.
‘BC being a fly-half over the years he knows what we are trying to do.’
Shane Taylor, who was among the tries for the 2nds in their demolition of St Jacques last weekend, comes in on the wing.
Squad:
Craine, Ceillam, L. Batiste, Hillier, Hobbs, Thomas, Le Cocq, Barton, Barnes, Campbell, Taylor, Ball, McDougall, Sayer, Whitehead. Replacements: Sharrott, Choules, Rutledge.
Mark Stone’s 2nd XV travel to Jersey this weekend for their opening JRA league encounter against new side Panthers. As yet no team news.
