This month, Ugo and Red Roses’ Danielle ‘Nolli’ Waterman travelled to Canvey Island, to reward our first winner of the 2018/19 Quilter Kids First season, Canvey Island RUFC.
Canvey Island RUFC was set up by Alex Breading and his wife, to give their autistic son who wanted to play rugby a safe environment to do so. The club went from 7 kids to 128 – in just 16 months! What also really impressed the Quilter Kids First Champions panel was the club’s ongoing effort in removing financial barriers. They even have a fundraising manager, Jean Mayo, who works tirelessly to ensure every kid can play rugby.
To be in with the chance of your rugby club or school becoming a Quilter Kids First Champion, visit the England Rugby website, select ‘Nominate’ and complete the entry form. All winners will receive a visit from former England Rugby star Ugo Monye and another rugby legend AND will be invited to attend an amazing training day at Twickenham Stadium.
