TRAVERS BACK FROM BRISTOL
DAISY TRAVERS returns to the Guernsey set-up as Steve Evans’ squad make their first home appearance of the season this Sunday.
Reading, who lie three places below GLR in the table, provide the opposition in the lunchtime kick-off (1pm) on the main pitch and Guernsey will need to be at their best to secure a home win.
The return of Travers and a number of other players in a growing squad have resulted in positive selection headaches.
Aimee Gaudion is also making her first appearance of the season having been unavailable for the previous fixtures, but unfortunately Jemma Crouse is unavailable for Sunday’s match.
A strong, experienced pack will be reinforced by an exciting back line, with new combinations at centre and in the back three which will hopefully allow Guernsey to play at pace from the kick off and not repeat their slow start which cost them the game at London Welsh two weeks ago.
London Welsh scored 22 unanswered points in the first 30 minutes, which was too big a mountain to climb despite an impressive comeback in the second half.
Training has gone well over the last two weeks, with morale remain good within the squad,
Hopefully this and combination of playing at home and a positive reaction to the first defeat of the season will see a victory this week.
