NO RANG FOR TABLE-TOPPER
With the RBSI Guernsey Rugby Academy U16s playing Canterbury U16 in a Garenne Stand curtain raiser at noon to the Guernsey Raiders and the Ladies back in action in a table-topper on the old club pitch, Saturday should be quite a festival of rugby at Footes Lane.
For Steve Evans’ side, who won so well at home last weekend, it is a case of first versus third this week.
Guernsey Ladies, who top the table on 15 points, play Portsmouth Valkyries who are one point behind in third place and with a game in hand.
A win at home this weekend could see Guernsey open up some breathing space at the top of the table.
But with a short turnaround after a tough game last weekend, unavailability and injuries have had an impact on training and caused a bit of a selection headache for the coaches this week.
Sadly, there is no Vicki Rang available, nor Jemma Crouse, but the depth of the squad is paying dividends and a strong team has been named with an exciting mix of youth and experience.
Kick off is at 1pm on the Club Pitch.
Team:
Andrea Harris, Michelle Schofield, Minna Gallienne, Kristine Vavere, Ellie Whittles (capt.), Tanya Scholtz, Fiona Power, Jessica Melville; Lucy Pratt, Justeen Baker, Georgia Denziloe, Hannah Guilbert, Daisy Travers, Aimee Le Bachelet, Lael Hollingworth.
Replacements: El Woodward, Sophie O'Connell, Janelly Le Maitre, Jillian Smith, Laura Sweeney, Sarah Woodington.
