GLR LOOK TO FINISH ON A HIGH
Finish on a high.
That will be the message coach Steve Evans will be trumpeting as the Guernsey Ladies team close out their South East West One campaign on Saturday afternoon at Footes Lane.
While much of the UK will be focused on the final day of the 6 Nations, all at GLR will be concentrating on defeating Rosslyn Park who were GLR’s first opponents this season.
GLR won that game well and and will be looking to complete a double this weekend.
The squad remains strong despite injuries and availability problems.
GLR are looking to bounce back from a disappointing away defeat at Windsor two weeks ago where a number of lapses of concentration cost GLR the game.
A third place finish in the league is guaranteed whatever the result, but the coaching team are demanding a finish with a flourish of attacking rugby that they know the ladies can produce one.
‘The expanded squad numbers available for a home game rather than the 18 we are able to travel with for away games give GLR the opportunity to play the game at a high tempo with players on the pitch knowing that they can concentrate their efforts over 60 mins then be replaced rather than having to conserve their energies to last a full 80 minutes,’ said coach Steve Evans.
Kick off is at 2pm on the main pitch on the Garenne pitch. The Inter-Insular men’s match is prior, at 12pm on the Club Pitch.
