Raiders 71 CS Stags 22

WELL that was fun.
Entertainment with a big E for the big Garenne Stand crowd who witnessed Raiders run in 11 tries, countered by three for the visitors.
No wonder the head coach was delighted.
‘Yeah, there was some good rugby,’ he said having had 36 hours to digest the performance and not get worked up by the loss of three tries in the latter stages.
‘To be fair CS had their fair bits of possession but our first half defence was good and we prayed on their mistakes
‘Converting possession into points didn't happen for them.’
For the record, Anthony Armstrong had a field day with four tries. His was an A* performance boomed the Full Time headlines in Monday’s Guernsey Press and it was just that.
Poor CS just couldn't cope with his pace and they struggled, too, against Joe Andresen who had set the ball rolling with a couple of early scores and by the end had his own hat trick.
Naki Veamatahau chipped in with a brace and Luke Sayer was not to be left out.
Matt Armstrong and Asher Veamatahau did not get on the sheet but they were good also on a day when the backs took the limelight.
‘We are constantly improving in that area,’ said the coach.
’But we are pretty strict with ourselves and we didn't play at our best at London Irish. But they are playing some good rugby and I think we can be better than where we are, he said.
‘We identified pretty early on where we wanted to attack them,’ he added and the coach was particularly happy to see the two long distance tries which were the result of turnovers near their own line.
‘I think the biggest part for us were the four tries we scored from turnover possession and be quick enough to move the ball before they can re-set.’
‘There was one from Anthony which was from our own five meter line.
It all made for a disappointing return to Footes Lane for former scrum half favourite, Adam Nixon, who came close to a score late on but was hauled down close to the line and it was left to his teammate Thomas Williams to finish things off.
However, he did manage to later catch up with his former team mates afterwards.

The four-try bonus point which allow Raiders to close to within three points of Rochford, was in the bag as early as 22 minutes and the game was as good as won at 33-3 by the break.
The Stags had arrived with a reputation for strong forward play. Indeed they had shown that in edging out Hertford the previous week.
But the home pack again proved they were up for the challenge and dominated proceedings.
There was even a catch and drive score for Tom Ceillam for the pack to celebrate.
As for the injuries which saw Douglas Horrocks and Asher Veamatahau leave the pitch in the second half, Reynolds says they are nothing to be too worried about.
Asher had a tight hamstring and Douglas a knock to a quad, but both men should be available for this weekend's trip to Sevenoaks.
The coach expects he may make changes anyway with the bye week coming up the following weekend.
