VETERAN SAYER BACK
NO QUIET Easter for the Raiders who head off to Bury St Edmunds for another tough away clash with one eye on the Siam double-header next month.
In terms of team selection the standout pick is a place for veteran back Luke Sayer who comes in at full back, while there is a second successive start for newcomer Liam Welch.
Head coach Jordan Reynolds has rejigged the side again in the intention of giving the whole squad more minutes.
The pack sees the return of front rowers Sam Steventon and Tom Ceillam who got a rest last week, but the coach has chosen to stretch the rest period for three more regulars in the form of back-rowers Oscar Baird, Dom Rice and Doug Horrocks.
It is the absence of the latter that enables the coaching team to get another look at Welch who performed well last weekend.
Matt Creber keeps his place after a man of the match display at Old Albanians.
There are significant changes, too, among the backs and not only the reintroduction of the ever-young Sayer whose class makes him a viable alternative despite his advancing years.
Anthony Armstrong is back on the wing and Dan Rice gets to play at fly-half with Owen Thomas on the bench.
Ciaran McGann, Joe Andresen and Michael Jamieson all drop out this week as fit-again Matt Armstrong gets the opportunity to further increase his match-fitness.
